Aussie ramblings, March 2013

Hello again wherever you are, sorry there's been a lack of insightiful and inspiring emails these past few months but you know there's only so much Spanish bicyboatsliding one man can do. If you're wondering what on earth I'm talking about, then you might want to look through the archives here in late 2011...Or you might want to save it for another time. Or never. I'm cool with that.

First things first, I have a big announcement to make:

I'M IN BATHURST!
In the Library in fact. Using the free internet to send insightful and inspiring emails to people.

ALSO, there's a show coming up this week which I'm very excited about, and if you're in Sydney then you should come on down. The Basement is a beautiful room, and on the off chance you're still searching for inspiration when you've finished reading my email, Brett Winterford and his band will be a pretty safe bet on that front. In addition to being a great old mate, Brett is one of my favourite local singer-songwriters, and the band are some of the best musicians in town. But don't take my word for it, come and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed.... (Fortunately Brett will be on stage, which means everyone in the audience will have a clear view).

FRIDAY 8TH MARCH.
THE BASEMENT, supporting Brett WINTERFORD
Solo show, music from 8pm. Advance tix still available:

In other news...

After taking a bit of time out over Xmas and New Years to rest the voice, I'm slowly starting to ease back into the live shows. A shout out to the folks at High Tea Sydney who had me back yet again in late Jan. If you've never been then check them out Here - https://twitter.com/HighTeaCrew
One of the best live music nights in town.

Thursday I was fortunate to be at the Brass Monkey to support the Black Sorrows, and it's always a real treat to see world class musicians in that type of environment. Not trying to be cool, not trying to be the next big thing, just playing great music because that's what they've always done and they absolutely fucking love it. Awesome.

Also just starting to get reaquainted with the Aussie touring boots, which always makes for an interesting story or two. Last night saw me rocking out in the corner of a pub here in Bathurst, well away from TAB this time but not quite far enough to shut out the noise of the Greyhounds completely. I did in fact take a trip to the Greyhounds in Dapto on my way down the south coast a few weeks back, just to see what it was I'd been competing with all these years, and I have to say those little buggers can really run! Very exciting stuff indeed, but perhaps best enjoyed without having to sing Wonderwall at the same time.

Playing a few more shows here in Australia before I head back to Europe, so if you're nearby then I'd love to see you. I'll have more news on that front in my next email, but in the mean time I'll say this:

You rock. Thanks for hanging in there with me.

Cheers for now...
